I know it is about time for me to update my blog with a new entry, so I am throwing this out for concidderation. How right are the history books we learned from?  I started to figure out how wrong they were about 30 years ago ...

here are a couple of my personal observations ...

Recently a map was presented to our local Museum, this map (dated somewhere in the early 1600s)is Spanish in origin. The interesting thing about it is that the 33rd longitude is marked as being the lay line for the cities of Cibola. This document confirms many things for me.

First; The Spanish were here much earlier than the history books document. Colorado history books for Western Colorado state that Fr. Escalante was the first Spanish into Western Colorado. He came looking for the "western passage" a trail that connects the west coast with the lower east coast.  It exists, just not where he looked. The expeditions looking for The "Seven Cities of Cibola" (Cities of Gold)Came through here almost 100 years prior to Escalante.  So at one time the Spanish were in and on this part of Colorado like ANTS.   (no wonder the indians had trouble with them so quickly, prior experience.)

Second; The Spanish came here with prior knowledge of a civilization that was here before time was counted on this continent. They thought it was the civilization that built Cibola, We who have actually found the evidence of this earlier group have come to believe other things.

Could this be the place called Ophir? The signs and monuments have a definite middle eastern look. Maybe they are phonecian, They sure look it.

Only time itself will tell. I only know that where ever we find these signs the Spanish were hot on the trail. They not only followed them but they modified many, destroyed others. the ones that escaped were the ones they seem to miss. The country is so prolific with these ancient monuments that they couldn't find them all. The ones that weren't destroyed are amazing to see. I will in the coming weeks post photos of some of these.   See if you don't agree. They have a definite middle eastern flavor.

UPDATE 2/25/10:  At the request of several members, the Treasure Hunting section of the forum has been closed to non members.  Again, signing up and participating in the site is free and easy!  JUST CLICK HERE! Our members provide a ton of info to help folks out with prospecting and treasure hunting and in return, all they ask is that you participate!  The rest of the forum is still open to public view, but only members can post!  The site is optimized to run best in Mozilla's Firefox (click here to download a copy) and it does run in Internet Explorer but will sometimes get errors and the site doesn't look as clean in IE.

I have also added a Colorado Forum to the Treasure Legends section of the forum.  More states and countries will be added as stories are posted pertaining to those regions.

UPDATE 2/14/10:  I have added a section to the glossary for treasure signs, symbols and their meanings.  This is basically a reference guide and a copy of what is in the forum for the same topic.  Since I have done this, the glossary is now a members only section of the site.  If you would like access to this and any other members only areas, sign up, it's free and painless and only takes a minute or less.

UPDATE2/13/10: Added a 2 new sections to the Treasure section of the forum that are for members only - Signs & Symbols Only! and Monuments & Markers Only! These sections are for the discussion and education of the various signs and symbols and monuments that we will see out in the field or on maps.  Why is it for members only?  Because I feel that you should be a participating member of the forum to be able to access that kind of info!

Hehehehe, so, people are wondering what is happening to the site, so many changes so fast!  Well, I am working very hard behind the scenes to make this the best damn place on the web for folks that are interested in Treasure Hunting, Prospecting and pretty much anything Outdoorsy!

Now on to the number one question my e-mail box has been getting as of late, where did the videos section go?  Well, it is still around, but, it has been transferred to the members Only Lounge area which registered members can access via the main menu under "The Lounge".  Why did I do that you ask?  The video section of the site was getting hit by thousands of people a day that are not members of the site and I felt that it was unfair for those of you that take the minute that it takes to register for a free membership and participate in the site to have to suffer from slower speeds due to unregistered users using up all the bandwidth.  So, videos are now in the Lounge area for registered members to enjoy and share.

I am considering pulling the chat section of the site as well.  When you enter the lounge or the forum you may have noticed a chat bar along the bottom of the page, I think that I may just switch to using that for chats since it gives members the ability to go to a chat room, vreate a new one, or have one on one chats with people in their friends list.

I am going to be adding a cookbook application to the site pretty soon as well so that you can share some of your favorite recipes for while you are out in the great outdoors with each other or heck, just any recipe will do if you want!

There is now a banner exchange on the main menu.  You can grab our banner and add yours to the exchange page.  I added this because no one seems to want to use add to the web links section and it just may be because they want to add a banner, so, have at it!

Thats about all I have for now.  Most of the new additions have been to the members lounge, heck, it's like a whole second site in there, hope you like it.  Folks, this page is set up for you, so that you can interact in various ways, make new friends, learn something new and teach others a little of what you know too!  You just got to use it.  We are as friendly as we can be in here and I will do my best to make sure things stay that way, so come on in and stay awhile, were sure glad your here!

Some thoughts on Jesuite mining PDF Print E-mail

We as treasure hunters seem to catch a lot of flack from many sources when we use a legend as a basis for our search. These legends sometimes are the starting point for some of the greatest adventures we will ever undertake in our lives.

We must realise that the finding and documenting of proof is part of the endeavor.

This article, was written by my good friend Roy Decker. A superb and successful treasure hunter in his own right. In this article he gives some sources that may help find some of that obscure documentation we so desperatly seek, as well as good definitive arguments in the positive for the mineral exploration and exploitation in this countries past.

Who says that only "traditions" can be found today?  Been reading too much of our Jesuite friend's rather sweeping statements about "no evidence"?  There are fairly obvious reasons why we don't have files full of Jesuit records in AZ - for one, take a look at the Mission 2000 database, you will see what still exists.  Do you  believe that what they hold today, is very much the whole of the records that existed in the 1700's?   Do you suppose that no treasure hunter has gone before us, whom likely took whatever records they could locate?  I found incidents from the late 1800's and early 1900's in which Franciscan padres were literally selling off the Jesuit documents they had from the missions - for $1 a page.  It seems terrible but they were in need of money at the time, and folks were not so particular about preserving historical documents in that time.

Been awhile since I updated the site so I thought that I would drop by with some updates.  First off you may notice the addition of the calendar at the right side of the page along with the addition to some events related links in the user menu.  The ability to add events and venues is only available to registered users as are many of the newer functions of the site.  My opinion on this subject is that if you do not wish to become a member and participate and contribute, then you shouldn't have access to all that we have, or are going to have to offer!  I am planning on adding a ton of new stuff over the winter and I know that Thom has been thinking of adding a ton of stuff as well.  Some of this info may be open to the public, some may be for registered members only and some may become accessible to paid members only.  Time will tell.  We are also starting a group - The Prospectors, Adventurers and Treasure Hunters Association (PATHA)  And our current, active and contributing members will get grandfathered in with a lifetime membership once it goes paid.  The information that you will receive will be valuable beyond any annual dues that will be charged.  This of course will take some time as I need to add everything in to the site that the paid members will receive before considering doing it.  Lots of stuff to do!

I have added a directory to the menu where you will soon be able to find important contact information for places like the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service among others.  I have just started to add the info so hang in there!  The forum is starting to build up nicely and I would love to have your suggestions to what topics you would like to see in there.  Click here to go to the forum and let me know what you want me to ad.  I have added a FAQ section to the site as well.  If you have a question for us just go to the Contact Us and click on the drop down box and select question.  There is also a new picture gallery section.  Just click on pictures in the main menu and you can view others pictures or add your own.  We also have added a new video to the video/movie section of the site.  It is just a fun little video of Bobby and me having a little fun in the mountains.  Here it is if you hadn't gone to see it yet:

Well, I have continued to add to the site!  You will now notice that there is a members Blog section.  Members of the site can now add their own blog entries.  This will be nice for those of you that want to share info with others without using the forum.  You will note that you have  a ton of options when you post your blog entries, such as adding tags, making your blog entry for the public or for members only etc!  If folks start to use this function, I will enable the ping settings so that when you submit your blog, the site will automatically notify several of the major update services out there to let them know that you have a new blog posted!  UPDATE:  Members Blog Area Removed Due To Non Use If anyone shows an interest in publishing their own blog, let me know and I will set it up for you.

We have several new members and I would like to simply say, welcome to our humble little corner of the web!  We are small but growing and doing the best we can to provide you with what you want on a site of this type!  If you are looking for something specific that you would like to see added to the site, some form of function or a forum topic or anything, just let me know and I will see if I can get it done for you!  There is a section in the forums that you can use to post your suggestions to me. (Click Here For Site Suggestions)

I have noticed quite a few new pictures in the Picture Gallery that you might enjoy, and of course feel free to post your pictures too!  If you have an article that you would like to submit and don't want to put it in a blog, use the Contact Page and select Barry and let me know.  I will let you know how to get it to me and I will get it posted right away.  If you would like to be a regular contributor I will be happy to discuss that as well and get you set up!

There have been several new web links added, and you, as a member can add your links too just look under the user menu on the right side of the page.  You can also add venues and events to the calendar on the page as a member.  If you have a meet, or a show or you want to invite folks up to your claim for a weekend, put it in the events calendar!

A very recent addition to the page is the Members FREE Ads section!  If you have some equipment for sale, go ahead and post it!

So, don't forget to join up, it's free, it's fun, and you just might learn something, or better yet, teach us a thing or two!

Learn How To Pan For Gold: You Can Learn – Its easy! by Reno Chris

Ever thought about learning to pan for gold? Its really not that hard to do – anyone with a little patience can learn it. Perhaps the oldest and most widely used gold concentration device is the gold pan - originally called a "gold dish" by the 49ers. Panning Kits Although pans are available in various shapes and sizes, the standard American gold pan is 12 to 18 inches in diameter at the top and 2 to 2 1/2, inches in depth, with the sides sloping at roughly 30 to 45 degrees. They can be purchased at prospecting stores, rock shops and even some hardware stores for round $8 to $12. Gold pans are constructed of metal or plastic and both are used in prospecting for gold, for cleaning gold-bearing concentrates, and rarely, for hand working of rich, isolated deposits. Plastic pans are recommended for most folks, because they have some significant advantages over the older steel types - including the fact that they are lighter, don't rust, nor do they conflict with the use of a magnet.
Panning Kits

Around the world miners use a wide variety of containers in place of the pan. In South America, prospectors have long used an open wooden bowl called a betea to process the gravels. In Mongolia, prospectors are currently using large plastic tubs. The exact shape of the gold pan device is not all that critical, its point is to allow the operator to shake the gravels so the gold settles downward, and then wash the lighter material off the top. Eventually after all the lighter materials have been removed, only the heavy concentrates will remain in pan, hopefully including gold. Panning Kits

In the mountains of course!  It's summer, who has time to sit around at home when there are adventures to be had, gold to be found and streasures to be sought after!  Spending a ton of time in the mountains, but I am still trying to get to the site as well!  I have plans to add a ton of material to the site and from my conversations with Thom, he too is planning on adding a lot of stuff to the site regarding Spanish treasure!

For those of you that don't know who Thom is, let me tell you that he is a very valuable resource when it comes to lost Spanish treasure.  Thom and his partner have been looking for and researching The Spanish for many a year, and have an enormous wealth of knowledge.  And we are lucky enough to have him here moderating the treasure section of our forum.  If you have any questions at all, feel free to ask him, post your pictures for him to take a look at, or just drop in to say hi!
